Arsenal are reportedly set to hand Rob Holding a new contract after an impressive run of performances towards the end of the season.
The England U21 international joined the Gunners last summer after spending over a decade at Bolton as a youth player and then a first-team regular.
His move was met with apprehension by some Arsenal fans, who doubted his ability to impress in the top-flight.
But Holding had proved a shrewd signing and impressed manager Arsene Wenger in the back three formation at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old was instrumental in helping Arsenal clinch the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley, keeping in-form striker Diego Costa fairly quiet throughout.
And according to The Sun, the £2.1million signing is set to extend his current deal at the Emirates which expires in 2020.
Wenger, who himself agreed a two-year extension last week, also hopes to tie Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain down to a new contract in the coming weeks amid interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool.
