Arsenal has suffered yet another major transfer blow in their pursuit for a new striker.
With England striker Jamie Vardy stalling on whether to sign for Arsenal or not, and Juventus striker Alvaro Morata’s failed bid, it now seems another top striker has rejected a chance to move to the Emirates.
According to Sky Italia, Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani is set to renew his contract at PSG until 2020.
The new deal for the Uruguayan is believed to worth about £6.25million a season, which comes as a huge blow to Arsenal in their quest to sign a top striker.
Unlike the possibility of signing Vardy, Cavani never looked likely to sign for the Gunners, but now that he has renewed his contract with the Laurent Blanc tutored side, the speculation linking him to Arsenal can finally stop.
Last season, Cavani scored 19 goals in 24 Ligue 1 appearances, despite always playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Most Arsenal fans are of the opinion that spending too much on the Uruguyan who played in a far less competitive league than the Premiership could be a waste.
