We are certainly set for the most intriguing summer transfer window as the media wave gets heated up.
Andrea Belotti is being closely watched by foreign scouts, Torino’s president has revealed, amid rumours linking the striker with moves to Arsenal.
The Italy international has been enjoying a sensational season that has seen him score 25 goals in 32 Serie A appearances.
It’s led to him being linked with a summer move to the Premier League with various clubs understood to be keen to sign the 23-year-old.
A switch is a real possibility with Belotti’s contract including an £84million release clause – which can be activated by any side outside Italy.
Urbano Cairo, the Torino president, says that he is yet to receive an official offer for the striker, but confirmed the interest is there.
‘I have not received any requests for Belotti,’ said Cairo. ‘There are certainly many scouts observing Torino games, and I imagine Belotti, both Italian and foreign.
‘I said many times, if Belotti stays for another year, he’ll be doing a great thing for himself and for us. Next year he could consolidate his status, score maybe 30 goals and get to the World Cup.’
Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are all seeking reinforcements in attack this summer and Belotti’s powerful ability to lead the line makes him an ideal signing for all the clubs.
Belotti on his £84m release clause
‘To be honest, no [I don’t feel I am worth it].
‘But given the way the transfer market has developed, increasingly ridiculous sums are being spent.
‘The cost of players has gone up far too much.’
