Although Di Maria and Mesut Ozil have told the world they do not intend to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal or any other club, I personally believe Arsenal still have a big chance of signing both of them should they be willing to pay Real Madrid’s asking price. Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing both players in a deal believe to be worth at least 60 million Euros.
Judging by the history of Real Madrid when they want to offload players, I strongly believe Arsenal have a good chance. Let’s not forget Wesley Sneijder, in 2009 told the world he will not be leaving Real Madrid and the world thought he will be staying after that but few days later, he was sold to Inter Milan.
“I continue thinking that this is the best club in the world, even though they want to transfer me. My intention is to continue until I am told to leave.
“If I am still here on September 1, then the club cannot transfer me and this increases my chances of playing with [Real ] Madrid. The coach sees me as part of the team.”
Another player who never wanted to leave Real Madrid but ended up been sold is Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
“No, it’s not fun, but Real won the last seven games, so… Raul, not a bad player of course, does very well in the center striker position. So, I need to be patient and await my chance. That’s tough, but that’s how it is. I don’t want to leave Real. Of course I want to stay. And I don’t want to leave the club in the summer and I’ll never say anything like that. Even if I don’t get to play in the coming months. But I do hope I’ll get some more time…”
Hunterlaar was later sold Ac Milan for 15 million Euros.
There are other examples but I leave it at those 2 players. What this tells us is, if we want to sign Ozil and Di Maria, it is left to Wenger. Real Madrid will want these players out to recoup the money spent on Gareth Bale and very likely on Luiz Suarez and if Wenger does the right thing ( bids the right amount ), the chances of signing them is very great.
