With England international and Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott looking unsettled at the North London club, and could head for the exit this summer after yet another disappointing season at the North London club, Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles is thought to be Walcott’s long term replacement, but the wonder kid is set to leave Arsenal and rejoin Championship side Ipswich Town on a season-long loan.
The 18 year old spent the whole last season at Ipswich Town, tutored by Mick McCarthy, and had a brilliant start to life at the championship club. The teenager was taken out of the squad after his mother put a call through to the manager and left an x-rated voicemail, complaining about her son’s playing time.
According to the Sudbury, Mercury Maitland-Niles relationship with manager McCarthy is believed to be solid and the teenager is being eyed up for a return to the club.
The talented Arsenal winger played a total of 32 games for Ipswich last season, starting 23 games and coming in as a substitute on nine occasions, scoring just two goals in total.
Maitland-Niles had the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott to battle with for a place on the flanks.
The competitive loan move for the talented youngster makes more sense than playing in and amongst the Arsenal reserves.
