With the defensive midfield problem Arsenal have had for ages now sorted with the signing of Granit Xhaka and the emergence of Francis Coquelin, Arsenal could still do with the signing of a centre back and a striker. And with the dreath of quality strikers in world football at the moment, it appears Arsenal are making progress in the centre back front.
According to a report by skysports, Arsenal are on the verge of signing highly rated Zenith St Petersburg star Ezequiel Garay in a deal that could be worth as much as £18 million. According to the reports, the South American is ready to leave Zenith this summer and is very open to signing for Arsenal.
Ezequiel Garay moved to Zenith last summer from Benfica in a deal said to be worth £4 million. It was a big surprise back then as the Argentine was expected to move to a bigger club but with Zenith doing so badly last season and not playing in the Champions League next season, an opportunity to play for Arsenal which is a bigger club compared to the Russian is certainly going to be enticing for the Argentine.
Should he move to Arsenal, he will be expected to partner Luarent Koscienly in the centre of our defense. His versatilityb also means he can play in a number of positions which is something Wenger likes in his players.
