According to bookmakers, Arsenal is favourites to sign Argentina and Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Top bookies Sky Bet have quoted the Gunners at 3/1 to sign the Napoli man. Paris Saint-Germain is second favourites at 5/1, while West London club Chelsea are next at 6/1, with Premier League giants Manchester United and Manchester City also in the mix and 8/1 and 12/1 respectively.
Higuain, 28, might well leave Italian club Napoli this summer transfer window after his agent and brother Nicolas Higuain confirmed via Sky Sports that Higuain, who has a buyout clause worth a reported £72m, would not be signing an extension with Napoli.
Nicolas Higuain, informed Radio Continental: “We arrived with a Champions League project, of being champions, of growing, and the response of the company was not the most correct.
“It’s their right to ask for his buyout clause, but we will opt for the path of not renewing the contract and he will be free in 2018.
“In these conditions we are going to respect the contract that we have with Napoli but we are not going to renew it under any circumstances. Gonzalo is super professional and will continue to give the maximum.”
The Argentina international striker bagged 36 times in 35 Serie A games and it is clear to see why his buyout clause is so huge. His form has seen him linked with a move away from Napoli, with lot of Europe’s top clubs eyeing the Argentine.
Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked with Higuain.
