According to the Daily Star Sunday, Arsenal are currently chasing Spanish international and Celta Vigo attacker Nolito who is a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia.
Nolito has been impressive in Celta Vigo not just last season but in the season before that. The Spanish player has scored vital goals for Celta Vigo and is also the focus of their attack.
Nolito is reported to be ready to quit Celta this summer for a big European club if his release clause of £13.8 million is met. This was revealed by Celta Vigo’s Chief Carlos Mourino who had this to say: “I think that Nolito will leave Celta this year. There are no numbers, no negotiations . He has a buy-out clause of €18 million (£13.8 million ). Who pays it can sign him.”
This fee is considered a huge bargain considering last season exploits of the attacker who has also shone in this year’s European Tournament in France has his goal against Turkey showed class.
The only problem to the signing of Nolito is his age (29). This means that there will be no future resale value attached to his signing as his age is considered too advanced to fetch Arsenal money if the club decides to cash out on him. With Arsene Wenger keen on building a young squad who cannot only challenge for trophies at the present but will also do so in future, then this means the signing of the Spaniard is at risk.
Chelsea and Manchester are also monitoring the situation but it is his former club Barcelona that are seen as favourites to sign him this summer.
