Santi Cazorla has discussed the complications of his achilles injury and his hopes of playing soon.

Hopefully, it won’t be long now until we see Santi Cazorla back in action again. The Spaniard has endured a difficult few months as an injury sustained against Ludogorets last October failed to heal as it should have.

At one point, there were even concerns he could never play again. Cazorla, though, has dismissed those concerns and has said he will be playing again soon.

Speaking to Onda Cero, he said: “I don’t know how much time it will take, but I’m convinced that I’ll be back soon. I came to think that I wouldn’t play football again at my level. I left the operating room, all good, and then I relapsed again.

“I don’t have any force or muscle mass in the tendon. I need time. I can’t pinpoint firm recovery dates in case I don’t hit them.”

Cazorla then went into details about the nature of the injury and what was preventing him from coming back sooner.

“Apparently a bacteria in the tissue was the root of the problem. They didn’t have a clear idea of the problem I had, but it seems to have been sorted now. I came to see going to the operating room as natural.

“The doctors tell me they hardly ever see cases like mine. It’s an unusual thing for a sportsman.”

It’s just Arsenal’s luck that one of their most talented players would have an unusual and rare injury. Tomas Rosicky was the most recent Arsenal player to suffer such a thing. However, much like how Rosicky came back and demonstrated his quality, so too can Cazorla.

Arsene Wenger has shown faith in him by offering him a new contract. Fingers crossed he’ll back in time to contribute in what we all hope to be a positive season for the club.
