Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT Arsenal should keep Aaron Ramsey and sell top earner Mesut Ozil instead, after the German’s absence from Sunday’s thrilling derby against Tottenham.
The Gunners produced a terrific attacking performance as they beat Spurs 4-2 to make north London red again at the Emirates Stadium, extending their undefeated run to 19 games.
But they did so without German playmaker Ozil.
The World Cup winner was expected to return to the team having been dropped for the 2-1 win over Bournemouth, but – according to manager Unai Emery – he was ruled out with back spasm.
Meanwhile, Ramsey has been praised for his attitude as he continues to make a big impact in the Arsenal team, despite having only a few months to run on his contract, and played a key role in the win over Spurs after coming on at half-time.
The Welshman will leave the Emirates for NOTHING in the summer after the Gunners refused to meet his wage demands and decided not to offer him a new deal.
But Parlour has told talkSPORT Ramsey should be the one staying at the club, insisting they need him more than absent star Ozil.
“My personal decision would be that I’d rather keep Ramsey than Ozil,” the Gunners legend said on Monday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“I think Aaron brings a little bit to the team.
“Mesut Ozil is a great player, I’m not doubting that, but you can leave him out. We didn’t miss him yesterday, whereas I thought Ramsey made an impact in the second half.
