BARCELONA are prepared to sell Ousmane Dembele in order to secure the services of Chelsea star Marcos Alonso, according to sensational reports in Spain.
The French winger moved to the Catalan club from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
He joined not long after Neymar left for Paris St-Germain, a transfer that stunned chiefs at the Nou Camp.
Dembele was eventually signed for £135.5m, making him the third-most expensive player in the world behind Neymar and Philippe Coutinho, and will be fourth when Kylian Mbappe completes his move to PSG this summer.
However, despite his mammoth fee he has not settled in Catalonia and has made just nine starts in La Liga.
His season has been ravaged by injury and since the arrival of Coutinho, the 20-year-old found it even harder to break into the first team.
And according to Don Balon, Barca chiefs are ready to cut their losses and bin him off.
They have targeted Chelsea star Alonso as the perfect transfer to give the squad more balance.
As well as left back, there is a feeling at the club that he could also play as a centre-back as well as defensive midfield, report Don Balon.
Liverpool have been linked with Dembele, but Nou Camp boss Ernesto Valverde still believes the former Rennes winger has a future with the Spanish champions.
“We have to realise he just got here. He’s had some injuries and getting playing time in our team is not easy,” he said.
