Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere is unlikely to play a part for his team when they visit the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday, home of Bundesliga giants, Borussia Dortmund, according to the Daily Star.
The UK newspaper report that the England International is still having problems with his left ankle, despite training with the 1st team just hours before the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday.
Its a big blow for Wilshere, who has been used with caution this season by Arsenal boss, Arsène Wenger, due to his recent history with ankle injury setbacks; a disturbing re-occurrence which kept him out for the whole of the 2011/2012 season.
However, considering the England midfielder has age on his side, he and Wenger, as well as the fans have every reason to be optimistic, especially as a result of the fantastic re-emergence of Jack’s fellow British central midfielder, Aaron Ramsey, who’s in the form of his life, after experiencing a career threatening injury in February 2010. It took the Welshman a little over two years to get back to his best, but is now enjoying his football once again, scoring 10 goals already this season.
Another reason to be optimistic about Jack overcoming this difficult period is the fact that the 21 year old is known to have a strong character and would certainly continue to push on, till he finds the form which made Fabio Capello earmark him as a genuine candidate for the “Makelele role” in the nearest future.
Wilshere has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice, which has already equalled his best goal tally for the season, after getting the same numbers in the 2010/2011 season, his breakthrough season.
Edit : News on the social media ( twitter ) is that Wilshere is now likely to miss the next 6 weeks of action.
