According to daily star, Arsenal are ready to sign 25 year old Greece international striker Kostas Mitroglou once the January transfer window opens. Mitroglou came under the search light of major European scouts when he scored 14 goals in a total of 14 games. According to the reports, Arsenal scouts have been watching the player for some time now and based on the reports Wenger has received from his trusted scouts, Wenger is now ready to make a move for the player.
With Arsenal having only Olivier Giroud as the club’s only striker, signing someone of the quality of Mitroglou will ensure the club’s total reliance on Giroud is significantly reduced. However, Liverpool and Dortmund are also said to be interested in the player but Arsenal should have the edge considering Arsenal’s new found financial power in the market.
Mitroglou is available for as little as £7m and his wages shouldn’t be a problem considering he is reportedly on less than 40,000 pounds per week.
