According to various reports in the Spanish media, the representatives of Arsenal and that of Fc Barcelona are locked in an advance discussion in regards to the transfer of Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez ahead of the January transfer window. Pedro is said to have grown frustrated at his lack of first team action with the Catalonia club and as such is already considering a move away from the club with Arsenal his preferred destination.
Spanish sports TV program Punto Pelota went as far as saying the the main reason the Spanish will like to leave Barcelona is just so he can get into the Spanish National team for the world cup finals in Brazil later next year. The player is reportedly of the believe that he will be doing his chances of making it for the mundial a lot of good if he goes to a club where he will be able to command more regular first team football.
Arsenal were linked to the player in the summer but nothing came off the deal as Barca refused to sell but with him now out of favour, it is believed that Arsenal will find it easier to do a deal this time around. The gunners are in need of cover in attack as the club only has Olivier Giroud as the only senior striker at the club currently – not counting Bendtner.
