Arsenal are edging close to finally securing the signature of a striker which the club desperate need. According to reports in Italy, Arsenal have been discussing with Juventus over the likely signing of Fernando Llorente either on loan or on a permanent signing. It is reported that Juventus are only waiting to see if they can get their own target Christian Benteke before sanctioning the deal.
Italy based agent Salvatore Bagni claims Juve want to sign Christian Benteke and won’t mind Llorente going to Arsenal if they successfully convince Aston Villa to sell the high rated Belgian.
Bagni said: “Benteke is definitely an attacker to very high level which is followed by the best clubs in Europe.
“Definitely next year he could leave Aston Villa to go play for a more famous club.
“Juventus I can confirm that the player is on Antonio Conte’s list, he is not convinced of the benefits of Fernando Llorente.
“Juventus, if not in January, certainly in June will go to buy a striker. But the competition for Benteke is strong.”
Personally, I do not think Llorente is what we need unless Wenger is trying to sign 2 strikers in January. Having watched him play 2-3 times, I sincerely believe he is too similar to Olivier Giroud and equally very slow and also very good aerially. Arsenal had wanted to sign Llorente from Athletico Bilbao just before he agreed terms to join Juve but he was frustrated by Bilbao’s asking price of 20 million pounds.
