MESUT OZIL has been told by Unai Emery that he won’t play if he doesn’t put in the effort.
That’s the view of former Premier League striker Chris Sutton, with Ozil struggling at Arsenal this season.
The midfielder hasn’t played since Boxing Day despite appearing to train alongside his Gunners team-mates regularly.
Emery has given a number of reasons for leaving Ozil out of his side this campaign, including tactical and injuries.
There have been reports suggesting Ozil could leave the Gunners in the summer with Inter Milan believed to be keen.
Arsenal may be willing to sell Ozil with the German their highest-paid player on £350,000 per week.
Emery has admitted the club can only bring in loan signings this month, due to costs with Arsenal also spending big money on Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over the past 12 months.
But Sutton believes Ozil could force his way back into the side if he starts putting more effort in.
Sutton, promoting The Sportsman’s Perfect 10 game, said: “Emery has walked in to this situation and you can say that it’s a bit of a mess now they can only work in loans.
