Massimiliano Allegri will demand a £200m transfer budget to spend this summer before accepting Arsenal’s offer to become their new manager, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the 50-year-old is seeking assurances from the north London club before agreeing to become their next manager.

Allegri is widely reported to be one of the leading candidates to take over at Arsenal after Arsene Wenger’s decision to stand down at the end of the current campaign.

The same report says Allegri wants to be guaranteed the funds to make at least five major signings this summer as he looks to have a big impact at The Emirates.

According to the same story, the Italian is prepared to quit Juventus at the end of the season to sign for Arsenal, but only if he feels that he will be able to turn the club in genuine contenders over the next few seasons.

Arsenal are now preparing for life after Wenger after the Frenchman’s 22-year reign at the north London club came to an end.

The Gunners have struggled to compete for the Premier League title in recent seasons and they have not lifted the trophy since 2004.
