DOMAGOJ VIDA does not want to join Arsenal according to reports in Turkey.
The centre-back’s future has been a hot topic following the World Cup in which he helped Croatia to the World Cup final, albeit where they lost to France.
The 29-year-old was strongly linked with Liverpool last month and more recently he has been subject of apparent interest from Arsenal.
The Evening Standard reported yesterday that the Gunners would have to pay £26.9million to sign Vida from Turkish club Besiktas but that they were weighing up a late move.
There has not yet been an official approach with just hours left of the transfer window for English clubs and Turkish outlet Aksam say that Vida does not want the move.
Their report says that the player has told Besiktas’ head of transfers Umut Guner that he does not want to join Arsenal because of his love for the city of Istanbul.
Yet Aksam say that Besiktas are keen to push through a deal given the profit they stand to make having signed Vida on a free from Dynamo Kyiv in January.
Rumours of an agreement were also sparked by a post from club president Fikret Orman on Instagram yesterday.
The Besiktas chief posted a video of himself strolling through a park early in London with it suggested he is in the capital of England to discuss the details of a deal.
Arsenal would have to raise funds via player sales in order to make a last-minute move for Vida having spent over £70m this summer.
Emery has brought in Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulous, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi so far.
