The 23-year-old has just one year left on his contract and has been linked with Liverpool as well as the Blues.
The England international has shone as a right wing-back in Arsenal’s 3-4-3 formation and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte reportedly sees him playing the same role at Stamford Bridge.
Our View – Is this the right move for Oxlade-Chamberlain?
According to most reports Oxlade-Chamberlain is frustrated by a lack of consistent playing time and a set position, but would this really change at Chelsea?
Conte may well see him as a right wing-back primarily (is that even Oxlade-Chamberlain’s best position?) but you can be sure if there are injuries out wide or in central midfield Oxlade-Chamberlain will be asked to fill in.
He’s a better option than Victor Moses at right wing-back but how much loyalty will Conte have to a player who helped him win a title in his debut season?
It’s tough for Oxlade-Chamberlain but he’s probably best off knuckling down and working hard this season and then seeing what options he has when he’s a free agent next summer.
