Italian outlet TMW write that Wenger is 70% likely to join the Serie A club. Former Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has already spoken to the 69-year-old, and they’ve reached an agreement ‘in principle’.
However, they still need to sort out the length of his contract and the budget for January transfers. Wenger is reportedly particularly keen on bringing ex-Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas with him to the San Siro. Whether Wenger joins Milan or not, TMW expect a change in manager at the club, with Roberto Donadoni the other option as it stands.
Another Italian outlet, Panorama, also report that Gazidis has been in direct contact with Wenger over the job. According to them, Gazidis called his former employee up the day after Milan’s elimination from the Europa League, to find out if he had any interest in the job. The following defeat to Fiorentina only ‘accelerates’ proceedings.
We’ll have to wait and see whether there’s any truth to the rumours, but it would be good to see Arsenal’s former manager back in a job again. Plus, with Milan’s elimination from Europe, Wenger wouldn’t even have to worry about facing his former club anytime soon.
