Arsenal told Aaron Ramsey they had withdrawn their contract offer to the midfielder because he no longer fit their vision of the club’s future. The Welshman was close to signing a new deal with Arsenal at the start of the season but the Gunners withdrew the offer without providing an explanation. Ramsey’s failed to tie down a regular starting position under Unai Emery but he’s out of contract at the end of the season and can negotiate with clubs in January. The midfielder had not given up hope of renewing talk over a new deal but Arsenal have finally told Ramsey in person that his time at the club is up.
The Mirror claim Ramsey was told the club are going in a ‘new direction’ and he doesn’t fit in with where the Gunners are heading. Ramsey is disappointed in the way he’s been treated and he had hoped to stay at the club.
However, the Welshman will not be short of offers in January when he’s free to speak to other clubs about a free transfer at the end of the season. That’s likely to lead to a scramble for his signature and the likes of Liverpool could bid for him in January to better their chances of signing him.
