Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Nadiem Amiri from Hoffenheim, according to reports in the German media.
German outlet BILD, as quoted by the Sun, is reporting that the north London clubs have both shown an interest in landing the 22-year-old at the end of the current campaign, despite the fact that he is currently out injured with a foot problem.
The same story says that both of the club are “keeping tabs” on Amiri’s situation at the German club ahead of potential swoops in the summer transfer window.
It is also claimed that German side Schalke are among the teams also interested in signing the attacking midfielder, who has not played a single game this season due to injury.
Amiri is currently under contract at Hoffenheim until 2020 – and Arsenal are apparently hoping that their good relationship with the German club could help them to lure the midfielder to The Emirates next summer.
The clubs have done business recently, with 18-year-old Reiss Nelson having headed to the Bundesliga outfit on a season-long loan deal this year.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Tottenham will go head to head on the football pitch on Sunday when they do battle in the Premier League clash at The Emirates.
