Arsenal and Tottenham have reportedly renewed their interest in Ipswich Town’s teenager, Andre Dozzell.

The 19-year-old played 14 minutes against Middlesbrough, marking his return from a cruciate knee ligament injury picked up at the start of last season that saw the North London pair lose interest.

The son of former Tottenham man Jason Dozzell, Andre then played 80 minutes for the Tractor Boys against Swansea four days later.

Manager Paul Hurst was impressed. “I thought he did well,” Hurst said“He brought a calmness on the ball and picked some nice passes.

“We thought it would be one of our hardest games and it proved to be that, so credit to him for his performance.

“He used brain power to sometimes not chase when he didn’t have to and, as much as we want to try and get a press on teams, that was difficult today.

“We could try and do it from a start point but after that, we had to be very disciplined and play from there.

“He’ll be pleased to get back out there and I think he brought some quality on the ball to us that we needed.”

Dozzell is a central midfielder and is under contract with Ipswich until 2020.

He has represented England at u16, 17 (c), 18, and 19 level, scoring four goals in 32 appearances at youth level for his country and was part of England’s u19 UEFA European Championship winning squad.

He made his debut for Ipswich on 16 April 2016 when he was just 16, the same month he was named Academy Player of the Year. Dozzell marked his maiden performance with an equalising goal against Sheffield Wednesday.

His father also scored on his senior debut, also for Ipswich.
