As per a report from the Daily Star, Premier League outfit Everton are the latest club to express an interest in RB Leipzig star Emil Forsberg.
Gifted creator
Forsberg made the move to the Red Bull Arena in 2015, having been named Sweden’s midfielder of the year in 2014 for his exploits with Malmo.
Though his abilities have been common knowledge for some time, the 26-year-old moved to a level that few thought him capable of over the course of the 2016/17 campaign, racking up 8 goals and a league-high 19 assists as RB Leipzig clinched second place in the Bundesliga in their debut campaign in the German top flight.
In-demand
Unsurprisingly, Forsberg’s stellar showings quickly alerted a number of Europe’s top clubs to his talents, with all of Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United having been linked with moves for the Swede last summer.
In the end, the 41-time capped international stayed put, but majorly struggled to replicate his sensational form from Leipzig’s debut Bundesliga campaign, with a number of injury problems having restricted Forsberg to just 15 league starts this past season.
On the move?
Nevertheless, if reports across Europe are to be believed, then Forsberg’s struggles over the last 9 months have not deterred some of European football’s biggest clubs from expressing an interest in his services once again.
All of Arsenal, Juventus, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have been named as potential destinations for the Swede, and, as per the aforementioned report from the Daily Star, another side, in the form of Everton, have now joined the race for the versatile winger.
Goodison bound?
New Everton boss Marco Silva is thought to be on the lookout for reinforcements out wide this summer, with Forsberg, who largely disappointed over the last few weeks at the World Cup, viewed as an ideal addition.
The Star claims an asking price of around £25 million has been placed on the head of the experienced Swede, though previous reports have suggested a considerably higher price-tag.
