When it comes to ridiculed players, Mesut Ozil is one of the first to spring to mind. Ever since arriving at Arsenal, the English press has held a vendetta against him. This quickly transcended towards the fans. Obviously, all this negative energy is bound to have an impact, regardless of how you feel about Ozil.
That said, it comes as no surprise that this season hasn’t been fruitful for him so far. He’s had good performances against the likes of Leicester but he hasn’t been consistent enough. That’s why, according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal could sell him in January for just £25m.
Unai Emery should be wary of selling him
One thing is for certain, Emery isn’t a fan of Ozil. However, that doesn’t mean Arsenal should be rash in selling for just £25m. In today’s market, that is a minuscule fee, especially considering he has until 2021 on his contract. Surely teams would be willing to pay more than £25m for his signature, surely.
That being said, Ozil does age at 30 years old which means he’s reaching a professional footballer’s danger zone. It’s by no means old but he is edging towards the final stages of his career.
