Monaco Winger Keita Balde could be on his way to the Premier League. The 22 Year old joined Ligue 1 holders Monaco last summer from Lazio for a deal valued around the £30m mark however he could be set for a very quick exit. It has been reported that Arsenal and Liverpool have turned their attention to him after given up on Baldes Monaco team Thomas Lemar who Monaco have valued at £90m. Napoli are also said to be interested….

Balde, once a part of Barcelona’s very highly rated Academy joined Lazio in 2011 where he scored an impressive 31 goals in 137 games. This saw him being linked with many of the top clubs across Europe before he eventually signed with Monaco. Since signing last summer Balde has netted 5 times in 24 games whilst also assisting on 5 occasions. These seem like impressive numbers for a player who is featuring in his debut season with the French giants and for a player who is predominately deployed as a winger.

Not only has he made a name for himself in club football, Balde has also begun to be one of the key members of his national team. He has made 14 appearances for Senegal, scoring three goals, and is expected to be one of their highly important members of their squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia. Whether or not he will produce under the pressure we will wait to see.

Verdict: So, should we sign him? Personally I would say no. He seems to be a decent player however he is more of a long term fix. Right now I believe we need someone who will come in and hit the ground running. In other words we should get a finished article not a player with a mass amount of potential, and that finished article is none other than Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. Dortmund are asking £60m for their star man which I believe is quite cheap in today’s market for a player who scores goals for fun, therefore we need to focus on getting this deal over the line before thinking about any other deal.
