Arsenal are not messing around in this summer transfer window it seems. After yesterday confirmation of the signing of Granit Xhaka, the club is set to confirm they have complete yet another signing. This time, a striker.
According to higly reliable media outlet TodoMercadoWeb, Arsenal have had a bid accepted for high rated Argentina striker Maximiliano Romero who currently plays for Velez Sarsfield. The South American had flown to London in 2014 to undergo trials with the club but suffered a knee injury and the deal was stopped.
Arsenal, according to reports, continued to monitor his progress and are happy with his development so far. This has led to the club making a big money offer for the player which was accepted by Velez Sarsfield and he wiill be joining up with his team mates in London for pre-season.
This development was confirmed by the player’s agent to TodoMercadoWeb which gives it a lot of credence.
“I went to London to talk about Arsenal’s offer, and then took it back to [Velez president] Raul Gamez.
“Arsenal agreed to our main terms: that the player remains at Velez for two more years.
“Maxi is going to complete his apprenticeship at a great club like Velez. I met with Arsene Wenger twice in London. I negotiated with him and then with his assistants.
“They heard about Maxi Romero through their scouts in America. He was the player who most impressed them.”
Certainly not the world class striker we have been caving for, however, if the club can be watching him for three years or even more, then it means he has something exciting about him.
