It’s no more news Arsenal are looking to reinforce their defensive options this summer and they must sign a central defender to strengthen the back line. Arsenal has been heavily linked with a move to sign 20-year-old defender Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers this summer.
According to Football Insider, earlier this month a deal to sign the versatile Bolton defender is close after Arsenal tabled an improved offer to hire the England youth international.
Arsenal are closing in on signing the England youth international, now that Bolton has lined up a defender to replace him, according to the latest reports from Daily Star via The Sun.
Ageing Former Werder Bremen center back Per Mertesacker is heavily linked with a move away from the Gunners this summer, according to The Inside Futbol and the wonderkid may as well replace the 31-year-old German defender at Arsenal.
According to The Bolton News Former Bolton Wonders boss Neil Lennon heavily praised the youngster back in February, and claimed :
“Rob Holding has been a superstar for me. I think he has had real quality.
“Every game he seems to be growing in maturity and improving in performance.”
Holding, last season, was crowned Bolton’s player of the season, after featuring in 26 league games and scoring a goal as well.
Undoubtedly, this England youth international is one for the future, a perfect replacement for Laurent and Per after about three more years. If this transfer is completed, Calaum Chamber might be forced out on loan, as Southampton are reportedly interested in him.
