Better Than Mkhitaryan, Arsenal Set To Sign €75,000-A-Week Winger

As the Jamie Vardy saga continues showing no sign of an end anytime soon, Arsenal are now making arrangements for an alternative to the Leicester City forward.

One of such players that Arsenal is reported to be interested in is Lille Moroccan forward Sofiane Boufal who only moved to the French side from Angers last season for €4 million. The forward is still unknown outside of France but his exploits for the Ligue 1 side has won him admiration from the club fans. Boufal is still 22, with a long way to go in the game but what marks him out from his peers is his hold-up play and ability to have his way in tight spaces with his trickery and dribbling qualities.

Lille value the player at €25 million and this is a fee that Arsenal can easily afford considering the huge financial muscle of Arsene Wenger’s side. The forward can also play in any forward position as well as a centre-forward which would be interesting to Wenger considering he can partner Oliver Giroud in attack who though not consistent in scoring goals is a great threat In the air. Arsenal are not the only club interested in the forward who scored 11 league goals for Lille last season. According to his agent Yvan Le Mee, Boufal is wanted by a host of English clubs and Spanish football powerhouse Barcelona. The agent had this to say about the tricky forward , “We did have a meeting with the leadership of FC Barcelona in the last few weeks. There is an interest.

“Now the reflection is whether Sofiane Boufal will go to Barcelona to compete with MSN ( Messi, Suarez and Neymar) or should he go to a club where he is going to start matches and express his exceptional talent.

“We have initiated discussions with three clubs that interest us, but they either have or will change their coach or the coach is in charge of a national team at the Euros. In England, there is interest, but English market is just beginning. A transfer of 20 and 25 million euros is not resolved in two weeks, of course,” he concluded.

Though Arsenal is not changing any manager soon as he might be referring to Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United but it is also a known fact that Arsenal have been following the forward for a long time as Arsenal scouts had gone to Lille to watch the player in action in January.

Though the transfer is yet to be concluded , the fact that Boufal is young, wouldn’t be expensive and won’t demand a huge salary, can play in different attacking positions, can speak French like Arsenal Wenger and is a player of promise makes it likely that a deal for the forward will be concluded this summer.
