We are now a few days away from the close of the transfer market and i am sure you’d be left wondering if Arsene Wenger is going to reinforce his defense and attack as he said.
According to latest reports, Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Belgium international Christian Benteke in a deal worth £27m, potentially rising by a further £5m over four years, reports BBC.
The Belgian international moved to £3 Liverpool in a from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015 £32.5 deal but fell down the selection perking order with the Reds since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp.
However, he was linked with a move to Arsenal beginning this summer but no offer was tabled for him by Arsenal. Wenger has always reiterated the fact that he needs quality signing that can thick his boxes, i doubt Benteke falls into that category.
The 25-year-old was very happy about the move and he said:
“I’m very happy to commit my future to Crystal Palace,” said former Aston Villa player Benteke, who has six goals in 26 games for his country.”
Benteke, who joined the Reds for £32.5m in July 2015, would be Palace’s record signing, with the deal potentially rising above £30m with add-ons.
Winger Andros Townsend was the Eagles’ previous record signing, having joined from Tottenham for £13 in July.
