As Good As Done, Wenger Personally Superintends Rare Deal For Tough Tackling Defenders

With the transfer window scheduled to come to a close at the end of this month, Wenger is under more pressure to add to his team in the defense and attack, following the injuries of Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck.

Although, Arsenal are linked to Mustafi of Valencia for the most part of this transfer window, it seems they will not sign the tough-tackling German after report emerged according to Independent that the Gunners are preparing a double swoop for Swansea duo Ashley Williams and Federico Fernandez.

Ashley Williams has been dubbed as a leader and that is the main reason he is being attracted to the Emirates. Meanwhile, The Sun claim that they could get Fernandez for as little as £10 million – which, in the current transfer climate – is an absolute bargain.

Arsenal completed the signing of Rob Holding but Wenger has revealed that the player isn’t ready for top-flight football. The injury for Mertesacker means if Arsenal doesn’t sign a centre back, they will start the season without Gabriel as the only choice for the position.
