Steve Nicol believes a £100 million offer could see Luis Suarez leave Liverpool next summer, amid reports Arsenal and Real Madrid are interested.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the goal-machine and could yet make move for him in the January window as Wenger looks to shore up the Gunners striking department. Now, former Liverpool favourite Nicol claims a bumper offer could see the ex-Ajax man leave Merseyside after the World Cup in Brazil.
“Liverpool owner John W Henry will do what’s best for Liverpool and, after the World Cup next summer, if someone offers £100m [he could leave],” he told Extra Time.
Is he kidding me? Who will pay such insane amount for him? Suarez is a very good striker but he is no Messi or Ronaldo. On what premise will he command such a fee? He has not played Champions League football in as many seasons, he has never been crowned the best player in the Premier League neither has he won the Premier League’s highest goal scorer award.
If Liverpool believe that they would get that much for him then they are in fools’ paradise. They might even be forced to sell him for less than 50million Pounds if they fail to make the top 4 this season. He has just 18 months left on his current Liverpool deal and should he fail to renew it at the end of the season, the Reds will face the prospect of loosing their best player on a Bossman when his contract expires and then, they might not be able to have a say as to which club he joins.
