According to reports in the Portuguese media, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are all very keen on FC Porto’s forward Jackson Martinez. Martinez who has been in great form for Porto ever since he joined over 2 years ago has been linked to several big clubs including the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Clubs however baulk once they find out about the release clause the player has in his contract.
The fee said to be in the region of 40 million euros is what Porto are hell bent on getting from whichever club wants to buy the player. Newer reports claim Porto may be willing to take less than 40 million euros if there are appearance based add ons which will end up pushing the amount to 40 million in the long run.
According to RECORD, a Portuguese media outlet, Arsenal in particular are convinced they have a good chance of getting the player and are ready to put forward an offer that will match the release clause when add ons are considered.
The gunners are currently in the market for a new striker who will partner or replace Arsenal’s current only senior striker Olivier Giroud. According to the report, Arsenal are ready to offer Martinez as much as 120,000 pounds per week to convince him to join.
