Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly sure of completing the deal to secure the signing of promising English defender Rob Holding from Bolton.
The Arsenal manager confirmed during the week his intention to make just two more major signings in the current summer transfer window.
Rumors have it that Arsenal submitted a formal offer for the defender and are hopeful of agreeing a transfer fee of about 2.5 million pounds after Boldon turned down an initial offer of 750,000 pounds bid recently.
The 20 yesr old has just a year left in his contract at Bolton, after refusing a contract extension. According to the Sun, the centre-back’s Arsenal switch could move a step closer this week.
It’s believed that a £1.5m deal could go ahead as long as new Bolton boss Phil Parkinson signs free agent Mark Beevers as replacement.
Holding, 20, has been the only bright spot in a miserable season for Bolton, who finished bottom of the Championship, no wonder he cleaned up at Boltons end of season awards.
With Rob Holding signed, it remains to be seen what will happen to Calum Chambers. From all indication the Englishman will be sent on loan with Southampton, his former club, already said to be interested in taking him for at least one season.
