There are reports that Arsenal are ready only ready to capture Bayern Munich duo Luiz Gustavo but as well as his team mate Rafinha.
According to reports, the Gunners have had a £17 million bid accepted for Gustavo, who has been crowded out of the Munich midfield with the arrivals of Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara.
The Brazilian had a highly successful season last year, helping the Bavarians to a historic treble of the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Pokal. The 26-year old also helped Brazil claim the Confederations Cup raising his personal trophy tally to four for the season.
With the World cup only a year away, it’s vital for any player to play first-team football to give themselves the best chance of being selected for their national squads. Gustavo is currently part of the Brazilian national team but will need to figure regularly to keep his spot and Arsenal are able to offer him that.
Arsene Wenger is also considering offering £10 million for club team-mate Rafinha. The 27-year old can be used as a right-back or a right-winger bring versatility the club. Wenger has always been attracted to players who can play different positions and eyes Rafinha as his next utility man.
Despite being given a bumper £70 million to spend in the transfer market, Wenger has only managed to bring in Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer. The Arsenal boss is under pressure to spend big and with only three weeks left, he must start negotiating quick. The arrivals of the Bayern Munich pair will hopefully act as the transfer gate for many more summer moves.
