Last season, Mesut Ozil was hands down the best goalscoring chances creator in the Premier league. Unfortunately despite the number of chances he created, he could only end with 19 Premier league assists which is due largely to our strikers wasting the chances he creates. He was only closely followed by West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet in the number of chances created.
Unfortunately when Ozil is missing in action, Arsenal look ordinary, they struggle to create clear cut goalscoring chances. This is despite having Cazorla, Chamberlain, Wilshere ( who missed the bulk of last season ), Ramsey and Rosicky ( who also missed the bulk of last season ) in the team.
It however appears like Wenger will be addressing this issue this summer. Reports claim Dimitri Payet could become a Gunner in the next couple of days. The high rated France midfielder had a stellar season scoring 12 times and creating 14 assists. Just 5 less than Ozil.
West Ham are said to be interested in signing Oxlade Chamberlain and Arsenal are said to be trying to take advantage to ask for Payet in exchange. Wenger is said to be ready to offer West Ham 10 million plus Chamberlain to get the deal done.
This is certainly good news for us, if true that’s. I personally would like to have Payet in the team especially as he is versatile enough to also replace Walcott on the right wing or Sanchez on the left when time demands. His signing will provide us a reliable option to Ozil which means we will not be overreliant on the German.
