If a report by Daily mail is anything to go by, Arsenal have made an offical bid for Tottenham and Liverpool target Rob Holding who played for Bolton in the Championship last eason. Rob has been linked in the last few weeks with Tottenham but two weeks ago, Football insider reported Arsenal have joined the race for the signature of the player.
And now, daily mail claims Arsenal have firmed up their interest in the player by making an opening bid for the player. Bolton had officially confirmed two weeks ago that Arsenal have been given permission to talk to the player and from all indication, Rob Holding will be joining Arsenal.
Although unknown to Championship watchers, those that watch the Championship ( England’s second tier league ) know that Rob Holding is very good defender. He will be a reliable third/fourth choice centre back. The fact that Arsenal will be playing less than £3 million for him shows he is worth the risk. Rob Holding was voted into the Championship team of the year despite Bolton’s relegation which shows he is a good defender.
Should Arsenal sign him, it will be interesting to see what Wenger will do with Calum Chambers who he himself has confirmed is one for the future. Or maybe Mertesacker who will be 32 in September will be allowed to leave this summer?
