Arsenal are on the brink of signing Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria and also tying down Aaron Ramsey to a new contract, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the north London side are closing in on a deal to bring Uruguay star Torreira to The Emirates after having been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old in recent weeks.
The story also claims that new Arsenal boss Unai Emery is on the verge of securing his midfield set-up for next season, with a new deal for Ramsey also on the cards.
According to the same article, Emery has identified Ramsey and Granit Xhaka as his two main senior midfield players for next season, and that the Wales international is now expected to commit his long-term future to the north London club.
The same story says that Arsenal are hoping to be able to tie up a £26m deal to sign Torreira from Sampdoria as soon as his duty for Uruguay at the World Cup comes to an end.
Arsenal opted to let Jack Wilshere leave the club this summer after Emery deemed the midfielder to be surplus to requirements at The Emirates.
