With Henrikh Mkhitaryan looking like he will be choosing Manchester United ahead of Arsenal, Arsenal said to have embarked Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic as an alternative option, according to reports in both the Mirror and talkSPORT.
Perisic, 27, has impressed with his National team Croatia at the on-going European Championships, and has since been linked with moves in the past. His recent good performances have attracted a few interested clubs, including Chelsea, and Borussia Dortmund.
With Arsenals recent interest in both Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez and Dortmund playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, it seems the Gunners are intrigued by the prospect of signing another attack-minded midfielder in the summer transfer window. The future of Winchers Oxlade and Theo Walcott remains uncertain, despite Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s apparent reluctance to let the Englishmen leave the North London club.
Inter Milan finished 4th in Serie A last season, means they will be one of the clubs representing the Serie A next season in the Europa League group stages. Perisic hasn’t featured in Champions League competition for three years, since he left German side Dortmund for Wolfsburg in January 2013 after a lack of first-team opportunities under then-manager Jurgen Klopp. He will sure be tempted by Champions league offer from Arsenal.
The striker scored nine goals and six assists in all competitions for Inter last season. His ability to score goals and take on defenders makes him suit Arsenal’s free-flowing style of play in the final third.
