Arsenal manager Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his Arsenal defence and have identified three possible contenders to sign in January.
The Mirror are reporting that the Gunners are considering Gary Cahill, Eric Bailly and Fernando Calero as possible players to sign during the winter transfer window.
Unai Emery has made a terrific start to life as Arsenal manager but the areas of weakness in the squad remain stark from a defensive point of view and there is clearly an eagerness to plug the problem areas.
Cahill and Bailly are of course well known to fans of the Premier League with the Englishman struggling for game time at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri and potentially looking to move ins each of first team football, and similar comments surely apply to the Man United star.
Bailly was a big money signing for the Old Trafford club but although he has shown glimpses of his quality, he has failed to convince Jose Mourinho of late and rumours are suggesting that the Portuguese gaffer could be willing to cash in on one of his unwanted stars.
Calero is the unknown quantity of the trio but the story is suggesting that the Real Valladolid star does have a £10m release clause in his contract meaning he must be an attractive option for Emery.
The Gunners have already lost Rob Holding to a season ending injury and with long term doubts continuing to surround Laurent Koscielny, there would be no surprise to see the club dip into the January market.
