Arsenal are hoping to be able to unveil Luis Suarez at next weekends Emirates Cup. The club are considering a third bid and are hoping the deal can be completed within the week.
Liverpool have already rejected two bids of £30 million and £40,000,001 with boss Brendan Rodgers adamant the player will not be leaving Anfield. However, the striker has made clear his desire to leave and Rodgers knows it will do more harm than good keeping a player than does not want to be there.
The Gunners hope their next bid of £42.5 million will be enough to persuade Rodgers to cash in on the player despite the former Swansea manager stating any bid under £50 million would be immediately rejected.
Real Madrid is still the preferred destination of Suarez but the La Liga giants are yet to lodge an official bid leaving Arsenal as the favourites to sign the Uruguayan. Suarez has held talks with Arsenal with both parties negotiating personal terms so a deal can be completed quickly, once a fee is agreed.
The former Ajax striker will be banned for the first six domestic games with his 10 match suspension for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic overlapping from last season, but he is available for the club’s Champions League qualifiers, a competition that is thought to be the major driving force behind his desired switch from Anfield to the Emirates.
Wenger is also eyeing a move for Everton’s Marouane Fellaini. The big Belgian would cost the club £23 million but would give the Gunners much needed steel in the middle of the field. They must act quick with Manchester United also tracking the Toffee’s star man.a
