This summer’s transfer window has been a tumultuous one for Arsenal. It was as though Juventus were on our trail. The key targets we gunned for were also the ones that caught the eyes of Turin’s Old Lady. Firstly, Fiorentina’s forward Stefan Jovetic and later, Real Madrid’s striker, Gonzalo Higuain.
For Jovetic, both clubs dragged their heels at the fee demanded by the Italian side and turned their attention to the Bernabeau for Higuain but in the race for the Argentine, after constant speculation as to where he would end up, Arsenal seem to finally hold the ace after offering an amount closest to what Real Madrid are
demanding. Higuain’s agent and father has even admitted that Arsenal are close to sealing the deal for his son since Juiventus cannot simply afford him. It’s so interesting to discover that the supposed ‘pinchy’ club can actually beat a top team like Juventus in a financial tussle.
Despite loosing Higuain to Arsenal, Juventus are not leaving empty handed, they managed to get Carlos Tevez from Manchester City for a little over 10 million Pounds. A good signing for them if you ask me. He is experienced and a good striker. Besides, he has always craved for a move to the Serie A, finally, he has his wish granted.
The main loosers here are Fiorentina and Jovetic. The Italian side get to keep their player who will be unhappy at been priced out of a move. They valued him at 30 million Euros but the chances are that they will never get 25 milliom Euros for him. He has just 3 years left on his contract, which means next summer, he will have
2 years and that will inadvertently reduce his value.
As for Arsenal and Juventus, all is well that ends well. Both have succeeded in getting experienced players to bolster their attacks next season.
