Arsenal may have to put in an offer for Aston Villa forward, Christian Benteke in the coming weeks, as a result of concrete interest from the Serie A, according to TalkSport. The Belgian International has lit up the English Premier League since his arrival at Villa Park in August 2012 and went on to score 19 goals in the English top-flight, netting four more times in all competitions.
He has since been tracked by a couple of Premier League clubs, and now seems to have alerted Serie A clubs, Napoli and Lazio as well as Juventus, who have been linked with Benteke in the past. The Gunners haven’t been confirmed as strong suitors for the exciting 22 year old, but with Benteke now confirming he isn’t a one season wonder with 5 goals in his 1st 8 appearances this season.
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger may however have other reasons to be skeptical about a move for Benteke, for example, his similarities with Giroud as a target man but with the 64 year old moving in for Demba Ba on deadline day of the transfer window, perhaps he has a plan for two line leaders in the team, aside rotation that is.
Wenger would need to be decisive on this situation though, with top European clubs sniffing around the Belgian striker ahead of a swoop in the January transfer window, but with Benteke known to be an ardent Arsenal supporter, perhaps it just takes a trademark phone call from the Emirates to get any potential deal done and dusted with the current EPL league leaders.
