Arsenal’s move for trialist Sebastian Perez has hit a snag, with the deal reportedly to be completely off.
The 20-year old travelled to Arsenal last Monday to start his trial and came off the bench in their final pre-season fixture, a 3-1 victory over Manchester City. Arsene Wenger liked what he saw both on and off the field and made the move to make his stay permanent.
The major stumbling block in the deal is Perez’s failure to obtain a work permit. The youngster has only featured for the Colombian U20 squad, which is a hindrance on his application.
Perez was a player Arsenal were seriously considering with the need of a midfield anchor but his work permit failure has ended hopes of a move. There is still a positive for the Gunners with their pursuit of Luiz Gustavo intensifying as a result.
Either club are yet to confirm the news but it was announced on Twitter by South American journalist Juan Arango.
The player has been sent back to Atletico Nacional. However, I do not think Arsenal will be so stupid to offer trials to a player who they think they have no chance of getting a work permit for.
