Arsenal are eyeing a move for Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella with the club still searching for a new striker. Arsene Wenger has spent the majority of his summer scouting for strikers but missed out on priority targets Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez.
Lukas Podolski’s eight week lay-off has given Wenger added pressure to bring in a new recruit and with less than 48 hours left of the transfer window, Arsenal will need to act quick. Karim Benzema is still a current target for the Gunners but Quagliarella has also been mentioned as a possible new recruit.
The 30 year old faces severe competition in Turin with Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente, Sebastian Giovinco, Mirko Vucinic and Alessandro Matri, although the latter is closing in a move to AC Milan. West Ham United and Norwich City have also registered an interest in the player but Arsenal would seemingly be the player’s preference if they make their interest more known.
Wenger has insisted Arsenal will be active right until the very end of the transfer window but with Sunday focused on the North London Derby, it leaves Wenger will only 24 hours to complete his summer shopping and with his team low on numbers and full of injuries, the club may need a few new faces to help balance the squad and challenge for honours.
