Arsenal have joined Liverpool and Manchester City in the race to sign highly rated Porto defender Diogo Leite this summer according to the Metro.
Leite is yet to make his first team debut for Porto but has impressed for the Porto B team this season, attracting attention from top Premier league clubs with his performances.
The 19-year-old comes a £13 million release clause, and Arsenal are reported to be willing to pay as much as the release clause to land him.
However, Liverpool are said to be leading the race to sign the youngster ahead of next season, they hope to sign him in the summer and loan him out to get more game time as they already have Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez in central defence.
Arsenal on the other hand scouted him earlier this week when Porto’s Under-23 side defeated Arsenal 1-0 and seem to be impressed by what they saw.
They also have a number of defenders in central positions at the club, but with Mertesacker retiring and Koscielny currently out on a long term injury, they might decide to bolster their options with Leite.
