Inter Milan are reportedly hoping to tie Mauro Icardi down to a new deal as they believe his £99m release clause is too low for the current market.

Icardi only signed a new contract with Inter a year ago but the Serie A club are already trying to get him to put pen to paper on a new one, claims Calcio Mercato (via talkSPORT).

The 24-year-old currently has a £99m (€110m) release clause and Inter deem this too low in today’s transfer market.

They’re therefore allegedly willing to give him a pay rise if he allows them to slap him with a £134m (€150m) release clause.

Chelsea and Arsenal are the only clubs that have been linked with the striker so presumably, if true, it would be to ward them off.

Icardi has until 2021 on his current deal with Inter and so far he’s scored a whopping nine goals in eight Serie A appearances this season, which is handy since he’s the Italian club’s only out-and-out striker.

Inter currently sit in second in the table just two points behind Napoli at the top so you can imagine that they’ll do everything they can to keep their main man at the club.
