Arsenal are interested in signing CSKA Moscow’s Japanese international Keisuke Honda according to daily star. The high rated Japanese has announced he will be leaving the Russian side once the January transfer window opens after failing to secure a move to AC Milan in the just concluded summer transfer window.
He is in the last 6 months of his contract so Arsenal may be signing him on a free transfer.
“I have many choices, but I want to compare as much as possible,” said the talented attacking midfielder.
“I don’t think there’s a chance I will stay in Russia.
“I just need to focus on the Russian league and the Champions League, so I don’t want to talk about this right now,” added Honda, who starred for Japan in the last World Cup.
Although Arsenal have just signed Ozil from Real Madrid, the fact that Honda can also play on the wings may tempt Wenger to sign him especially as he will be available for free. Wenger has previously confessed his admiration for the Japanese.
Aside Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton are also interested. Daily star reports Wenger will have to be at his best to convince the midfielder to join Arsenal as he will want regular first team football which Arsenal can not guarantee.
