Reports emerging from last night claim Wenger is still very much interested in Newcastle United’s French midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Wenger had tried and failed to sign the high rated Frenchman in the summer but his 8 million pounds ( and another reported 13 million pounds that was never confirmed by both clubs ) bid was turned back by Newcastle United.

According to sports direct news, Despite having various options in midfield, Wenger still have his eyes fixed on Cabaye and will be hoping he can do a deal for the French man in the winter transfer window. However, if Wenger wants Cabaye, he will have to first beat off competition from Liverpool and also convince Newcastle to sell. Liverpool are reportedly in the market for another midfielder after the management of the club decides Steven Gerrard’s legs are beginning to fail him.

Steven Gerrard was on the pitch when Arsenal defeated Liverpool at the Emirates on Saturday but he was mostly overran by Arsenal’s younger midfielder Aaron Ramsey. This has made Liverpool to earmark Yohan Cabaye as a likely long term replacement for the ageing English man. According to the reports, Newcastle after willing to sell their prized asset but not for any amount less than 20 million pounds.
