Arsenal Back In For Arda Turan After Frustrating Start To Season

Arsene Wenger recently stated Arsenal would be in the market until the very end while revealing he was looking to sign two or three players. One of those players is believed to be Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan.

Arsenal have been slow on the transfer front, despite their £70 million windfall, they have only managed to bring in Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer. They have done well to rid the squad of their deadwood players but their lack of arrivals has made the squad worryingly thin and unable to compete.

A lot of players have left the Emirates this summer with only Marouane Chamakh being replaced. The departures of Andrey Arshavin and Gervinho has left a big gap out wide while the loan moves away for Johan Djourou and Ignasi Miquel along with the injury to Thomas Vermaelen means the squad only has two recognised centre-backs and Laurent Koscielny’s red card on the opening day against Aston Villa leaves only Per Mertesacker available against Fulham. The club are yet to properly replace Alex Song, who left last summer for Barcelona, and have no player to fill the role following Mikel Arteta’s thigh injury.

It looks like Wenger is finally ready to get out his chequebook as he realises his squad needs reinforcements. His first target looks to be Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan. The Turkish international has been the subject of interest from the Premier League before and Arsene now wants to bring him in. His skill on the ball is exactly what a winger should have and his pace helps him beat defenders. He is composed on the ball and is deadly at dead ball situations. He would only cost £10-15 million and could prove to be a worthy buy come the end of the season.
